We'll cut to the chase: this is the best view property in Gatlinburg, a gorgeous new custom that we designed to take full advantage of the view, in a perfect location just minutes from downtown, groceries, and restaurants.  Look at our pictures and read our reviews... guest after guest says that this is the best place around.

When we bought the rickety cabin on this property in 2015, we didn't know that we would be building a new custom home on the lot just a couple years later, but the wildfire of 2016 was a complete loss.  We hired a Knoxville architect to design a dream home that takes advantage of the view in every detail and then celebrated the opening of our new home August 8, 2018.  Guests are immersed in the view, seeing it from the moment they enter the home, through the kitchen, dining room, great room, game room, and most of the bedrooms, too.  And the view only gets bigger as you pass out onto the wraparound decks... over 17 miles wide and 11 miles deep.  To take full advantage of the location, we made the third story a penthouse as high as the city would allow.  With a 16-foot wide wall of windows its panoramic view is unrivaled.  Guests are already having lively debates about who gets to sleep in the penthouse!

The NEW Sensational View is 3,061 square feet, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and sleeps up to 23, with 19 guests in bedrooms and two sofa beds in the common areas.

The first floor and specifically bedroom two are designed to be very accessible. Many of our past guests have been interested in easy access for elderly family members (we have elderly family members too). This is important to us!  The shower has a bench, grab bars, and a hand shower.  All toilets in the house are chair height, and this bathroom has a grab bar running along the toilet.

The first floor has a great room including the kitchen, dining room, and family room. The 12 foot reclaimed barn wood dining table enables large families to eat around one table, and we also have a large sectional in the great room and a patio table on the deck so that you can be close to your friends and family. The whole room has views toward Gatlinburg and the mountains with a wall of windows. This room will have a 70" TV.

All five bedrooms have attached bathrooms. The master suite on the first floor has a king bed and large bathroom with shower and separate tub. It has great views and direct access to the deck and hot tub. This and all bedrooms will have large hi definition TVs.

The second floor has a large game room, designed as a balcony overlooking the great room and the view. It features a pool table, foosball table, cocktail arcade, and 65" TV. Bedrooms 3 (two queen beds and big views) and 4 (a full over full bunk plus a triple twin bunk, sleeps seven in five separate beds) are on opposite sides of the game room. A wraparound deck connects the bedrooms outside and offers not only amazing views of the city and mountains but also a neat perspective looking back into the house. (Thanks to our architect for convincing us this was a good idea. We were skeptical but it's awesome! We are starting to refer to it as the "catwalk.")  These bathrooms have shower/tub combos to meet everyone's needs.

Bedroom five is the penthouse - a bedroom/bathroom suite with a king bed and queen sleep sofa, wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, and seating area perched high above everything. It has wall of windows 16 ft wide for the best panoramic view of Gatlinburg and the Smokies anywhere. If there is a better suite in town, we would seriously like to see it! You may not notice the 65" TV over the wet bar as you stare at the view, but it is there just in case. :)

After a half mile, steep climb up to the house, you will find lots of flat parking.  4 to 6 cars is easy, but we have had up to a dozen work trucks squeezed in at once.

Breathtaking View, Beautiful Beautiful House!

We followed the construction of the house from the pouring of the footers until the day we arrived for our vacation. Thank you, Jay & Amy, for including us on this great building venture. It was our privilege to be the first guests in this beautiful, new home. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Jay and a bear! So glad we had the opportunity to meet you (and your resident bear!). We were a family of twelve and each family had their own suite. The furniture and furnishings are all high quality. The kitchen is equipped with high end appliances and all the essentials you would need. Every room is decorated beautifully! The hot tub and pool table/foosball table were great and the kids enjoyed playing Pac Man. The view of Gatlinburg from the house is constantly changing. At times, we were in the middle of clouds, or watching the morning fog lifting, or seeing the lights of Gatlinburg come on throughout the evening. Very Peaceful. We hope to do a repeat of this vacation but only if we can stay here again!

I took my Girl Scout Troop down to Gatlinburg for the week. They had a blast in the cabin!! They loved the hot tub and the air hockey table. Unfortunately the people before us threw their trash over the embankment....however because of this we got to see a bear!! They thought that was great!! Would recommend this cabin!! The owners were very friendly when I spoke with them on the phone and they had a very quick response time!

Great vacation cabin!

We stayed at the Sensational View cabin in Gatlinburg, TN from June 26 to July 1, 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were a group of 8 who traveled together for a family reunion. We chose this property for its promised view and close proximity to Gatlinburg as well as the numerous bedrooms/bathrooms and were not disappointed. The view from the cabin overlooking Gatlinburg was truly "sensational". We enjoyed watching the fog lift over the Smokey Mountains in the early mornings as well as the lights from the downtown at night. The birds sang in the mornings and we liked trying to identify them. The cabin was beautiful outside and inside. The kitchen, although small, was completely renovated with new appliances including a double oven, perfect for making pizzas for the group. We enjoyed the long log dining table as a place to visit and eat together. The living room had a large flat screen TV as did almost every other room in the house. The couches and chairs were comfortable and plentiful. The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. We did notice a couple of light bulbs that were out, however the rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The showers were good and provided hot water for numerous morning showers. A few of us tried the hot tub and found it to be quite large and nice, even in the hot June evenings. We enjoyed the foosball table and the air hockey. There were many DVD's from which to choose but we mostly watched the Direct TV. The temperatures were in the 90s while we were there, but the cabin was comfortable with the air and ceiling fans. The large upstairs bedroom had its own second air unit which kept the room quite cool. The drive up to the cabin was a little challenging. We found that taking it slow and downshifting worked fine. We drove a Honda Odyssey minivan and a Mazda SUV daily with no issue. I would like to comment on the owner, Jay. He was more than accommodating and pleasant to work with. We managed to lock ourselves out of the cabin and after calling Jay, he responded within minutes and remotely provided us with access. He also worked with us for an extended stay. I can't say enough about his excellent customer service. He truly wanted us to have a good experience during our stay. I would recommend this cabin to other groups or families as it provides a kind of home away from home but with nice amenities and a great view.

Best view and location...cozy, felt like home!

This property had it all. You couldn't ask for a better central location and the view is in the name, Sensational! My husband and I travel to Gatlinburg every year, and this year decided to bring the entire family. The owners made the booking process simple. They were extremely welcoming and helpful, sending us area info and responding promptly. The welcome packet was very informative and the directions were easy to follow. The cabin itself had something for everyone to do and kept us occupied when we just wanted to stay in and relax. We had family air hockey tournaments and nothing beats playing the arcade games for a trip down memory lane. The décor was super cozy and we felt right at home. The beds are very soft and comfy, the cabin super clean. You can tell that the owners take pride in their mountain getaway and it shows throughout the entire guest experience. I would highly recommend this property and we will definitely stay here again!

Thanksgiving Getaway

Our family decided to stay at Sensational View to celebrate Thanksgiving. Upon arrival we were amazed by the cleanliness and beauty of the cabin. Likewise, we were in awe of the day and evening view of downtown Gatlinburg. Our hosts were very attentive when we would email them any request. Also, the amenities, close proximity to town, and entertainment (air hockey, arcade, and hot tub) kept the family entertained for hours. I would recommend staying here any time you are vacationing in town. I am hoping my family and I can visit again and stay at Sensational View.

Great place for a family vacation

We hosted a family gathering at Sensational View for our children and 10 grandchildren. Family members arrived and left as schedules allowed...we had no problem finding enough beds for everyone. At one time we had 6 vehicles and had plenty of space for all of them. Children loved the air hockey and arcade games and never got bored. Cabin is in a good location for shopping or visiting the National Park. Some of our family even walked back to the cabin from the Aquarium. View actually is sensational...we loved looking at the lights in Gatlinburg at night. Appliances in the cabin were new and I especially liked to double oven on the stove. Dishwasher was the quietest we've ever experienced in a rental. Overall a really great vacation.

As if it could get better!

Our second experience with the Cabins and the owners was even better than the first. And the first was an unbelievable experience. The upgrades made to the cabin this year were amazing. The kitchen and Bathrooms made me want to go home and remodel mine. Sorry Jay, might steal some of your ideas. :) We can’t wait to plan our next trip and be able enjoy the view and this cabin again.

Amazing Cabin

We absolutely loved staying in Sensational View. Just after arriving we were welcomed, as we looked out the window at the view, by a huge, beautiful black bear walking up the ridge. It was truly AMAZING!! Our kids were so excited and thrilled to see him and watch him so close!! He was beautiful but not nearly as interested in us as we were him as he passed by quickly. Hahahaha!!! Jay is great and the communication with him is by far the best we've had in all the years we have been coming to Gatlinburg. He helped us in any and every way he possibly could and always responded immediately to any questions we had. His family has done an amazing job with this cabins interior since they bought it. The cabin is very comfortable and quiet. It feels like it is a million miles away with the privacy and that gorgeous view but you are so close to town and everything you need. We slept amazing because the beds were so comfortable!! Our large family has always struggled to find a cabin that has the number of beds we need plus room to relax, watch TV or play games and still feel like we are all together. This cabin truly met every need and want we had. We didn't have to drive forever through winding roads to get to it yet we had the privacy and view we love. No one wanted to leave!! We will definitely be coming back again very soon!!
